Spending a day in Yilan? Stop by 黑宅 Black House to refill on coffee and desserts.
Black House is a hybrid hostel + coffee shop, serving hot meals, desserts, and a variety of caffeinated drinks. It’s situated in Yilan, close to the beach, local eats, and hot springs. Stop by for your cup of well-brewed coffee and snap some photos.
Black House and cafe is rated 5 stars, we went to check out the cafe, but I’ll have to stay in the hostel next time I’m in Yilan! Book Black House for your next Yilan stay.
Drinks
We ordered the oatmilk latte, early grey tea latte, and a chocolate milk. There is a 1 drink minimum spend (doesn’t count if you order desserts).
Dessert
We had recently finished a seafood lunch nearby, so opted for just dessert. We ordered a ‘creme brulee’ which was really a pudding with sugar, icecream, and fruits on top, and a creamy chiffon cake.
Interior Vibes
The interior of this coffee shop is spacious, with large windows letting in the bright Yilan sun. I love the all black decor which is uncommon in Taiwan, and the black and white mosaic floors in the entryway.
Note: Dogs are allowed but only in their carriers.
Exterior Vibes: Camping and Swings
Black House includes a large barnyard door in the front, setting the scene for the rest of the land. 2 large covered picnic tables shaped like tents are for those that like to drink their coffee outdoors. A few steps away is a swing set that overlooks Yilan’s rice fields. The idyllic coffee shop is a short drive away from the hub of the city, and a great escape for a peaceful hot drink.
